This site is a WikiWikiWeb -- a collaborative authoring system that allows multiple people to edit a common set of pages via the World Wide Web.

To edit a page, simply click the Edit Page link in the header or footer, and then modify the text in any way you want. Yes, you can even edit pages others have created--that's part of WikiNature.

The rules for basic page editing are fairly simple--start each line without spaces and put a blank line between paragraphs. There are more TextFormattingRules for lists and other specialized text, if you want to do that. You can edit the WikiSandbox page if you want to try things out in a way that won't affect any of the pages on this site.

A basic primer

Unlike most websites where you build information, then link it together in a logical fashion, a wiki works in the reverse fashion. With a wiki you create links to non-existant information then either you or others can "fill in the blanks."

For instance, perhaps you have questions about a topic that isn't covered on this site. Sure you could go to a message board and ask a question, but over time that question gets lost in the archives. Here you can make a place for your question AND the answer. Maybe you see a section that provides invalid information, or information that you wish to expand upon. Rather than "posting" you can actually change the information on the page to read correctly.

After you Save a page, you may need to click Reload to make your browser do a refresh. This will let you see the changes you just made. The entire site is based on the idea of WikiWords, which are basically two capitalized words pushed together without a space. This creates a unique place page name to save information. Creating new links is as easy as using a WikiWord in your text, or using brackets to define linkable text [[BasicEditing linkable text]]. Click the ? after any new links to edit them and add text.

This wiki is also set up to allow image submission. By adding an "attach" command you can then add an image to your text. The correct format is Attach:myGraphic.jpg. After saving the page, you will see the "?" after your graphic name. Clicking on the question mark will bring you to a user's only page that allows you to upload the image.
